Forgive me for my wayward deeds,

But if I were anywhere but here I doubt that I would ever have thought of you.

Although I never knew you, I know I would have loved you.

You see Grandma, it’s your daughter’s birthday, and because I can’t nip out and buy a gift or even a card, I celebrate the occasion with contemplation.

I have such fond memories from a blessed childhood, only imagining the hardship and heartache of your own and your daughter’s.

My reflection I realise is more valuable and lasting than a purchase soon forgotten, and by my pen, I share with you, this tribute to your wonderful daughter.

Thankyou Grandma for bringing my mum into the world.
