Why can she not understand

that the love of one's children is universal

My love is so great, I have enough to share

The love for her children is equal to the love I have for mine

They too are of her blood, as I am of hers

Oh how I wish she could share my love of them

I never knew my grandma, but that was not her wish

My fear is that they will never know their grandma

But that was never their wish

Where did I go so wrong? How did I go so wrong?

I chose love over lies

I chose a future over futility

Ma chose my mistake over me

Do I have issues? believe it!

Do I blame her? never!

I made my bed of fire

I will burn in it

My fault

My way

Everyone's loss

Sorry

IN THIS LIFE...WE ALL DO 'THINGS' THAT ARE NOT RIGHT AND THAT WE LIVE TO REGRET AND WE ALL MAKE WRONG DECISIONS BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS...WE ARE HUMAN AND VERY IMPERFECT. THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO TO MAKE AMENDS IS TO SAY, I'M SORRY...AS YOU HAVE DONE. A PUBLIC APOLOGY SHOULD MEAN A LOT BUT STILL... SOME WILL FORGIVE, SOME WON'T, HOWEVER THERE IS NOTHING MORE YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. SO NOW...MOVE ON AND STOP BEATING UP ON YOURSELF. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Keep chipping away. Your "mistakes" are not your children's mistakes and at some point the light may go on. Good luck my friend. Patrick

We are all at a loss when we cannot find forgiveness
and also the treasure of acceptances within our life circles...

you beat yourself up too much my friend. we all make mistakes, i imagine yours are not greater than any other man's. you can only take your own responsibility not that of another. you are an honest soul and an effective poet.

Sad, painful and honest...but, you David are here...this is now...past, although it's there as a reminder to learn and grow from...is simply that....past.

This tears at the heart and soul. You are sorry, and that is really big. Honesty and humility is written all over this poignant outpouring of your heart. Live for today, embrace tomorrow.
You are on the right path, keep on stepping forward one step at a time.
My healing energy your way,
Much peace, love and light,
Amber

family dynamics are challenging, especially with hopes and expectations of what should be or could be. to write I chose love over lies, in a poem that flows is beautiful. That's a family keepsake. ~Morgan

David,
Frank and honest expression of what is deeply personal and highly charged.
Your strong confessional and questioning are admirable.

A gem ~
Well now is now, and you are on the right path now with much wisdom gained, so you ought to be considered heroic. "Ma chose my mistake over me" is so sad. The fact that you are sorry is enough to express the beauty in your soul.
