The bopper bird!

Poem Artwork

I saw a Silly Bopper Bird,

On legs like spindly steel,

He bopped and bobbed,

No sounds I heard,

No chirp of converse pealed.

Down swooned his head,

Up popped his tail,

Each time the water throbbed.

Or’ his feet the water spread,

With water droplets lobbed.

So silly looked the Bopper Bird,

So silly was his dance,

Of grace he had been surely robbed,

A victim of happenstance.

Loved the poem and I love the bird too. It's amazing how they dash away so fast when the water gets a little too close. Thank you for sharing!

You have captured that dance so well in this silly little poem. Actually, that bobbing is probably very productive as a sandpiper catches his delicate lunch from the cascading waves. Probably small animals like plankton that we can even see but the bird's sharp eyes and quick action easily find and catch.

I particularly like how they seem to race the waves on their very fast feet.
