I wrote this in college when I was studying philosophy. It has long been one of my favorites. It also appears in my book of poetry, "Acorns of Love and Wisdom." I enjoy playing with words.
SELF AWARENESS
I wonder constantly
As many men have before me
Seeking solution to a problem with no answer
Of how time can cease to exist-
When life for me
Continues
And my conceptions
Are those of one who exists materially
In a world in which all is relative
All is black
Or white
And yet all is not-
Eternity
Is an infinity
And the words can be defined
But I cannot conceive them
Since my mind
Is finite
Death is a reality
It means to terminate existence-
But its prodigy
Non-existence
Repels my mind
Truth is relative
Since we all play a semantic game
But appearance is deceiving
The frown behind the smile
In my mind
Everything has its beginning
As well as an end-
Non-existence has no beginning
Eternity and infinity have no end
The truth
Negates the truth
My knowledge is useless
I loved this, one of my faves now also, this was outstanding!

The truth
Negates the truth
My knowledge is useless
OH YES YES YES !!!!!..indeed that is how I feel lately..knowledge that I have is quite useless to me..perhaps I'll should allow the heart to carry me and not my mind etc.
inspiring piece..give us more..
Amen!
I read this several times; the last time, I read each line slowly so I might absorb your words thoroughly.
In my reality, I've always had the most difficulty with the concept that all is either black or white. In my world, I argue that there are many shades of gray. But... philosophically speaking, I suppose that white encompasses gray, since white is comprised of all colors of the rainbow, eh?
Most profound (although, certainly not a new concept) is this:
"Truth is relative
Since we all play a semantic game
But appearance is deceiving
The frown behind the smile"
One thing I've learned is that another's "truth" isn't necessarily my "truth"; therefore your statement is quite succinct. (In my world - ha ha)
And within the context of this poem, I'd concur: Knowledge is useless.
Thanks for shaking my brain around today, Steve. This is a real keeper; I know I'll read it often.
This book is about a radical transformational Way of Insight, Awakening and Realization to transcendent Self of Nondual Consciousness. If your're interested in transcendental Enlightenment, in Awakening to Nondual Self of Wisdom and Compassion, then
