Beneath the shadows of the reflective light,
lies this humanity we’ve each come to know,
here, where nothing exist in black or white,
for everything is gray as the clouds that flow.
Complexity is the nature of our human way,
give and take, always in want of having more,
rationalizing ideas continue to leads us astray,
fighting and bickering, pounding on the door.
Preaching to others on how they should live,
with we do as I say, not what you see me do,
wanting more, never learning to share or give,
lying, stealing, cheating to gain something new.
Such savage creatures propelled by our desires,
we’re not satisfied, our self-indulgence we take,
peace and love thrown out into the burning fires,
but in the end we are no more than what we make.
Beneath the shadows, just lost in passing time,
we live in a world created by our own illusions,
controlled by inner emotions and not our mind,
leaving us each in a state of despair and confusion.
As this poem says, "this humanity...where nothing exists in black or white, for everything is gray..." and "controlled by inner emotions and not our mind" seems to conclude that all men are incapable of logic(?) and wisdom, and are just "propelled by our desires". I think man becomes a "new creation" when he encounters Christ and the Word of God that is able to make him "more than a conqueror" of such base emotions/desires. "For the Word of God is living and active and sharper than a double-edged sword..." and it cuts through the grays of life to delineate black from white, good from bad, truth from confusion, and active enough to grow hope from despair.

I enjoyed "Dispair and Confusion" the diversity of human nature is indeed profound. I couldn't imagine another person telling me how to live my life...that would make me their servant of sorts; there just to please & fufill their needs & wants...wondeful & thought provoking verses

This verse is outstanding!! Unfortunately anathema types fail to see they cannot control anything...especially others who have their own points of view to their actual reality...

If only humanity would learn to live in humility, truth and always be grateful for the bounty they have, instead of jealousy and hate. Much truth in your words...
