This was my interpretation of the sand man.

There is an old man
who visits at night
peering into my dreams
he brings the light.

he wares an old hat
leather boots and chaps
in one hand a book
in one hand a map.

With a heart felt smile
he gives me a look
captures my soul
and points to the book.
without word or thought
I'm traveling through space
drifting we go
to a whole new place.

I see the colors in every face
all the joy and laughter
the world becomes a better place
I wonder what he's after.

I look to the man
who brought me here
and all that I can see,
is a great big heart,
a book and a map
for I have set him free.

Hey, Sand Man, how nice to get a look at you! You were a well-known personage during my childhood. And then, of course, you became a celebrity in the song, Mr. Sandman, when I was a teen.
This is what I call "a delightful poem."

Works for me, Karen. Like the rhythm and the pace of this. Well done. I think this might be my first visit to your works, but I'll be back. Thanks Dick
