Very nice write. Perhaps distance makes the heart grow fonder for our parents, our kids and our grand kids. But there are some cousins that it helps to have a healthy 100 miles or so between visits. LOL
I can only imagine how you feel. I never knew a grandparent. My parents are both from Finland. My father's parents died while I was a baby. That would have been cool to have skyped with her. Sweet poem!!
This one touches me personally. Because of my travel restrictions and being 1200 miles from my 92-year-old mother, I haven't seen her since 2011. She calls me every Monday at 4 PM on her TTY phone because she is nearly deaf and cannot hear, only read, what I say. I am trying to arrange a FaceTime session with her on her iPad (her fingers would not allow her to use it very well) with my brother when he visits her at the end of the month (he lives about 1500 miles from her) to see her for a brief time in the morning. Fortunately, she sees most of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren quite often.
I don't feel sadness for the loss of communication. Our telephone talks are short and she giggles a lot like a child. Both of our lives are now so limited, we have little to share.
But your poem does involve some sadness for the loss that is only natural.
Distance can make it hard at times, but if the saying is true, that distance makes the heart grow fonder, then it is possible to keep a connection despite the distance. Thank Gou for phones, skype and computers. So many people live far away from their loved ones, it helps. Thanks for the sentimental poem. I love the form you used Audrey, well done, Have a blessed day, xo
