Thankful Souls In Our Home
This Thanksgiving

Both of them are very thankful
In a home, with so many friends
Both of them, had been homeless
And their misery, is now at an end

Little Jack the Dog, had been dumped
He had been starving, out on the street
His canine love and loyalty, are enormous
He is an immensely grateful pup, so sweet

Young Valentina the Cat, had been all alone
Living under a cold loading dock at a factory
She had known only loneliness and hunger
Now, every day, she purrs her thanks, to me

And both of these former homeless waifs
Have been welcomed by our other pets
All of them are still extremely grateful
They haven’t stopped thanking us yet

All of our pets are truly appreciative
Of the loving home, they all now share
But so many today, are not as fortunate
There are far too many homeless ones out there

America’s animal shelters are overflowing
There are far too many, ‘left behind’ pets
Who all now desire, a second chance at life
Who have so much love to give someone yet
