Momma and Daddy sittin in the car
Liked hearing Elvis underneath the stars
O how the earth moved to that rockabilly beat
While their friends danced with those tap, tap feet
That old station wagon swayed to and fro
It was like a chair rocking on a front porch square
You could tell from far away
I just gleam about forty years ago
Momma liked to rock it when daddy rolled.
Momma was a rocker and when daddy rolled
Momma was a rocker and when daddy rolled
Momma was a rocker and when daddy rolled
Momma was a rocker and when daddy rolled
Eddie Cochran burning up with radio days
It was five years later; I heard Perkins cry
I had little blue suede shoes on my toes
My big sister dressed in her fancy dress
Dancing with her beau - with a tap, tap toe
You could hear his moaning from up the stairs
Brother was banging his rattle to bear
Just listen to the rhythm of that rocking chair
Momma held me until I'd fall asleep
That music still gets me within my soul
Then I'd hear them laugh and moan
Momma went to rocking when daddy rolled
Momma liked to rock it when daddy rolled
Momma liked to rock it when daddy rolled
Momma liked to rock it when daddy rolled
Momma liked to rock it when daddy rolled
Forty years later, My darlin's rocking in my arms
Chris Izaak's playin' that rockabilly beat
It's that old, old sound that gets to me
Just like Elvis picking on those strings
I'm dancing with a lady that I love so.
She's hot, hot, hot, she's so keen.
When my lady's rocking our boy to sleep
I take my guitar and slap an old song
Late at night, when we're all alone
His momma is a rocking when I like to roll.
Momma likes to rock it when her daddy rolls
Momma likes to rock it when her daddy rolls
Momma likes to rock it when her daddy rolls
Momma likes to rock it when her daddy rolls
