Snow has fallen on the ground Covering up all of the undergrowth Seeds and things are hiding out Buried without a sound. Winged creatures huddled placidly Fluffing feathers under the branches Frosty breezes blowing gently Clinging calmly as if they belong. Red spots of brilliant color Mingling on white dusted branches Adding a hue to the living picture Of the birds and the trees in winter.

I like the images this poem gives me. The birds before they leave for winter, flying from the coming cold. Those that stay find life that much harder. Well written. I enjoyed. Bob

They certainly are fascinating. It's a wonder how they can stay warm, they are so small. Some birds, like chickadees, seem to thrive in the winter. I believe they can find insects in the cracks of the bark of trees.
