I'm Just a little kid, afraid of the dark.
I'm in my dark room, I hear a dog bark.
My daddy's not home. Mom said, "Go to bed"
But sometimes I'm scared daddy's gonna be dead.
He's never at home; Mom's been crying a lot.
When he does come back home, he sleeps on a cot.
Mom yells all the time, even when I am good.
I could help her much better if I understood.
But, I'm just a little kid so they think I am dumb.
I wish I was younger, because then I had fun.
Once, when I was four, daddy put me to bed,
He told me a story, then kissed me on the head.
Now I am five, almost six in fact. I can even reach the phone.
But Mom won't let me answer it, even when she's not at home.
I guess big people are smarter, or so they always say,
But they never want to talk to me; they never want to play.
When I get big and have a kid I won't buy him lots of toys,
I'll play instead, and kiss his head, and hug my little boy.
But now I better go to sleep
'Cause mom said, "Don't you make a peep".
I wish that dog would not bark....
I hate my room...I hate the dark.
