A tribute to a friend who died of cancer

The first hummingbird of the year came late today,

And my best friend passed away.

That little bird must have known when to show;

Rodney loved them and they seemed to know.

The circle of life can break your heart

Then nature reminds you that we all must part.

But that little bird knew when to come,

I know it was him, and that we all go home.

I like that you connect the appearance of the avian messenger, Lark. You write with such grace and tenderness. I value the ability to convey the aspects of love of all kinds. With my mother’s ‘continuance,’ it was a red tailed hawk. That hawk seemed to always be overhead when I went to see my mother in her last days. What life form is more free than ‘a bird.’ Keep writing, I’ve only just discovered you, Lark (how delightful a bird is she — beautiful name. :) ~~ djl

My friend in NJ had his mom pass away and everytime he went to visit her at the cemetary a flock of birds stood vigil over her grave & he knew that his mom was watching over him...yours is a beautiful story of ur friendship with this friend that died...he gives you tribute I am sure...e
