This isn’t meant to be a great poem – I’m just making a point!

Poem Artwork

Just when you think that a person you know

Is all they proclaim and your friendship can grow

They suddenly turn and a crude side you see

You’re wondering. “Whoa, is it them or just me?”

They respond with a bruising right out of the blue

They deal you a low blow, which knocks you anew

Crass and perverted, their ugliness shows

In each grubby word writ in their graphic ‘sexpose’

You reel and recoil , filled with doubt and disgust

And what started out fine just dissolves into dust

The acquaintance you made, who you thought quite select

Now tainted and toxic ...They have no respect!

The world is full of disrespect. Well penned and wise.

This has happened to me once to often lately. I try to be a good friend, and in return I'm hit by cruel words. So cruel that I don't answer. It's amazing that I can still be shocked into silence.

Beautifully rhymed and hard driven through and through. I really think this happens more often with women than with men. But believe me, men that I thought were my friends have come across quite rudely and crudely at times, making me wonder where their morals went. Perhaps it is the nature of man to be crass. And I have been accused time to time for things that I thought I wasn't, probably through misinterpreted communication. I'm not one to speak rudely and crudely to anyone. My father taught me that.

I have very recently experienced this so it "hits home" big time. Love, peace, and best wishes to you, Ruan...

Mostly I would agree whole-heartedly with Michael Schafer...

Just not this time.

I think we all know where you're coming from, and know people who turned out not to be the friend we thought they were, but being disrespectful in return is not the answer. It's better to just walk away rather than become a toxic person yourself.

A tight, well constructed poem that makes an important observation and point. It can happen and often does.
