(wishful thinking perhaps)

Poem Artwork

Winter’s season fell too harsh

Too fast to buoy innate despair

Solitude would isolate and

Leave a lost soul shrouded there

Cold and damp crept into stones

Nestling, chilled, within her bones

Derelict in spirit, scared

Crumbling walls of rectitude

Time and tempest wore her down

Undermining fortitude

Chill winds howl through silent maze

Stirring dust in stale stairways

North face algae crawls, intent on

Shrouding features from the light

Mould and mildew flourishing

Despite the winter’s sharpest bite

Tiny soul, lost deep within

Sighs softly, like a violin

Cold grey light leans ‘gainst the glass

Windows, blind, cause it to ebb

As filtered through the musty film of

Ancient dust and spider’s web

Corners dank and dull won’t see

Spring’s sunlight ...nor inside, will she

But long sealed door, its locks imposed

Might, one day, be compelled to swing

With creaking hinge and groaning wood

While day light floods in ...dappling

Her dingy halls with hope at last

Lifting dreams out of the past

Amidst the dazzling burst of light ...and

Sounds, which suddenly roar within

A tiny glow worm may emerge

Trembling like a mandolin

Its music, catching on the breeze

And resonating ‘mid the trees

No one will know which way it went

When nothing’s left but broken spell

Sole witness to its soft release

The house will sigh, a sad farewell

And settling in her vacant lot

She’ll hope her tale is ne’er forgot...

Your words hold a deep memory.....I get visions of a death and a mausoleum. A house left empty? So many visions are offered through your words. I love this! I feel like a detective!

Love ya!

Your words make me feel a sad departure has taken place. "Sole witness to its soft release"........deep! Mourning is taking place and I doubt "her tale is ne'er forgot..."!

Love ya!
