Poem Artwork

Attired in patchwork, life’s events – emotions, thoughts and common sense

Masked, that all won’t realise the sadness that I compromise

My vibrant reds I wear with pride - my blues reflect the Blues¯ inside

The greens between are rarely seen, offset by purple's deep ravine

My heart and soul, with hopes and dreams – flanked by the gold a smile redeems

While dancing jaunty to my song – and making music dance along

Painted face, as though at war, yet love and laughter to the fore

I’m all of Harlequin, you see - My colours make the whole of me.

I recall introducing Odin Roark to your talents long ago. I'm glad he has kept his wits and insightfulness about our discovery, as have I.

I find that harlequins and mimes always seem to be hiding behind some great sadness. It's hard for me to laugh watching them perform. But I see your poem as an attempt to color your sadness with a bit of happiness.

It's so good to read you again.

A meaningful (and colourful) write Ruan. You found an original way of presenting your personality. I also like the flow of this piece. Love and best wishes to you,

This inventive piece reminds me of how long it's been since I was alerted for one of your postings. This is a clever and insightful portrayal of character properties that seldom receives a poetic rendering. Thank you for posting and I look forward to your next.

Visions of A Skylark Dressed in Black by Aberjhani

“The woman or man who is a poet, or fiction writer, or playwright, or all of these, is engaged constantly in a jazz ballet of vocabularies, passions, genders, histories, perspectives, death, love, and life. The music of revelation announces itself to
