Poem Artwork

Forever jumping hurdles, performing burning hoops

As time and time again, I’m caught in never-ending loops

He's back and with a vengeance, my freedom's not his plan

As hungry claws sink marrow deep, this monster's not a man.

At times, I see the tunnel’s end, all lit in glowing white

Is what I see an end to all the petty, pointless plight?

It’s not – It’s just illusion, an ogre’s laughing sneer

A ruse by gaslight, taunting me,  to elevate my fear

The years grew into decades and I’m weary, worn and tired.

The battlefield’s eternal; no rule of law’s inspired

Will God forgive my weakness while this demon grinds me down?

Can I be forgiven when my smile becomes a frown?

Whatever this devil is, you have penned a mighty ode to your battle with him in a very few, but very biting and truer than true words.

Kudos to the best poem I read in many a day…

We seem to be living in such a threatening world that escaping from the pandemic of demons is well near impossible. Your poem, in a very adroit fashion, points out that one's objective sense of right and wrong, love and hate, et al are impacted and often overwhelmed with the subjective experiences that are becoming more and more prevalent. It used to be we could go to the movies and fantasize any number of ways. Today, our everyday life is exposing us to those fantasies as realities. Yes... there is forgiveness, even when your smile becomes a frown, for you are steadfast in your conscious pursuit of healing. Stay with it.
