Poem Artwork

Earth waits, with softly bated breath, to see what humankind will do.

Her rivers tremble, lakes vibrate, anticipation filtering through.

Mountains’ melancholy moods are hung with weight of great suspense.

Woodland creatures watch from where the shadows meet the soil’s defence.

High above, the eagles soar. Mere specks against the cloudless skies

And towering trees reach out to greet them, questioning their anxious cries.

While underground, the wildlife still, ‘mid quietly drawn vibration’s news.

Their senses tuned to perfectly decipher Mother Nature’s cues.

And softly carried on the breeze, the sound of voices' whispered prayer

Louder, louder; souls beseech the devil ride away from there.

A song for peace, the dark begone. Such music purifies the lands.

Vows to birth a fresh new world, where swamps give way to golden sands.

Louder yet, and louder still, those voices lift the spirits high.

Way above the doom and gloom. Way beyond the devil’s sigh.

Reaching down in caverns deep to free the innocents within.

Motivating ocean beds to quell disharmony’s mortal sin.

Earth waits; her future balanced thus, her heart suspended in its prime.

Her greatest works, her precious cargo, all must use this poignant time.

Earth prays.

Beautiful and harmonious writing. Good message sent as well.

Reminds me of Silent Spring. Your mournful tale of how the earth feels about what we are doing to it and ourselves as we continue operating as though nothing is wrong with the way we are living and breeding as though all life was only us, more and more of us, richer and richer us, until we are all gone. And, as your poem suggests, the earth and all of its creatures continue on without the annoyance of us.

Beautifully written and so creative!

Ron
