Chaos reigns and nobody can figure out the score
For some who pay attention, life is shaken to the core
Reality is challenged; this isn't what we planned.
Most just fix their blinders and inter their heads in sand

For me, it's not an option to let darkness overcome
So I'm marching to the rhythm of a different drum

I take the road less travelled; Intution on alert
Snubbed for outward thinking; and my face rubbed in the dirt
I feel I'm on a mission, down a path I walk alone
Honesty is something which their fear will not condone

I'm a rank outsider in this liberation scrum
I'm marching to the rhythm of a different drum

It seems my stance is novel, as I push toward the light
I offer every treasure, as it drifts into my sight 
Peeling back the layers, while the opposition sneers
They don't hear the music coming softly to my ears

Searing me with snarls, until their mouths become numb
Because I'm marching to the rhythm of a different drum

Life is not a cattledrive, driven by the few.
The glimmer of my inner light will always guide me true
The flow's not where I'm going, in its spiralling descent
Servitude and struggle cannot be our sole intent

My intuition's blazing and my spirit won't succumb
I'm marching to the rhythm of a different drum.

I'm no expert at drum beats, discordant or otherwise.
But I can spot a gem from a mile away. This one sparkles.
And glows. And purrs. With talent.

As well you should. Marching to a different drum should be the outcry of the world's population, if for no other reason... as you say, we're not cattle-drive driven by a few... until, and as long as we are. Far too many turn in their identity having been convinced they're someone else. An arresting write and one more should read.
