Mother Earth is shrouded in indigo
as I rise and dress for another day,
softly kissing her bed swept curly locks
and whispering "I love you" as i go.
This journey only lit by man made glows
as is every day toward the time clock,
here the first pink band glows to light this day
and i reflect on many such displays.
A boy of ten sitting in campfire light
mist rising from the waters flow,
as such first dawn's glow wakes nature's own
Does sip at creeks edge and birds wing aloft.
birds sing, a squirrel barks to greet the day
as a monarch flits petal to petal,
and bees buzz their day's work begun anew
while the boy sits and stokes embers aglow.
The golden orb rises becoming bright
while the cresant moon and stars fade away,
in a pale blue sky unfettered by clouds
cause the creeks mist to disappear from view.
I remember those dawns sixty years past
and the simplier joy of my boyhood days,
yet all of them and the others i've known
don't equal even one kiss to her locks.
Nature and Romance entwined to give words of true beauty
and nostalgia..
I wad there observing and experiencing...and it was blissful....
Thank you Budd...definitely one for my library...

Boyhood memories are so precious, they live in our minds forever, so does that first kiss. Beautifully expressed dear Budd, thanks for sharing this delightful poem.
I hope your Valentine got to read your appreciation of her! My Valentine arose later this morning to greet me with the thing that always reaches my heart. Chocolate and coffee, followed by a kiss before she runs off to greet the day.
Thank you, Budd! I feel as though I am there out West in Colorado near a creek, feeling the breeze among the trees. Then at the end of the day seeing the fire in the sky as we sit by a campfire glazing at each other's eyes.
A dreamy description of the dawn with all of nature abuzz, like nothing else can be in our boyhood memories. A fine poem indeed, sober and enlightening.
Ah, Budd you took me on a journey into my past with the one big time, my friend. So many thoughts and phrases within this gem of a write set me to feeling my youth. Thank you.
Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
