For Mike

Touch of Pantomime

sunshine’s golden rays slipped gracefully
past the verdant maples’ branches
warmly reminiscent of visions retrieved
from memories within your embrace

families picnicking in pavilions
effervescent camaraderie abundant
children scampering to their own jig
mirroring the squirrels’ play

in a solitary corner of the park
propped in the confines of his own isolation
he reveled in pantomime
sad, white, anticipatory face
muted motions drawing me nigh

enthralled
knowing he had something to share
i was hypnotically drawn by invitation
closer, until shared droopy faces met
personal hush mimicking his

entranced by his eyes
i felt yours kissing mine
and in that moment
you and i were sequestered
into our own private pantomime

with cocked head in silent understanding
he reached his hand, slowly, tenderly
toward me, caressing my cheek

i closed my eyes and leaned into his hand
joyful tears slid effortlessly
…it was your caress i felt
and there was no need for words

To express emotion without words is a true gift to be admired. Always liked Pantomime. One clown who employed it who comes to mind from my childhood was Red Skelton...genius. "...no need for words" indeed! This last line crowns a fine write. Ty, Tami...

pantomine always reminds me of new orleans, where some of the best seem to be...or used to be. I can't imagine Lafayette Square gone, surely it will be okay after the waters recede won't it?

I felt I was a kid there.
Does america have the same-it's behind you- oh no i didn't. Oh yes you did. Type of pantomines at christmas. Where famous actors make fools of themselves, giving their time for free. In things like, mother goose, cinders, snow white, jack and his been stalk?
