I'm still haunted by the way I saw a girl in junior high being scoffed and laughed at. In this poem, she doesn't let them get to her. She picks the rose and dances.

Once a young one Cheeks of butter Soft & Sweet Full of marvel She plucked a rose Spinning circles Full Of Life & Laughter How the change Comes so quickly Words Brutal Searing Judgment Held Like Candy Superior smiles Turn to rage Cursing Ugly Venom Taller now They stride away From This Broken Heart In a dream A better world She Picks The Rose & Dances

This elicits introspection. You've described the epitome of bullying, It's an enduring problem and wil become worse since we elected a bully to the highest office in the land.

I know about the cruelty of bullying since I experienced it as a child because my parents were immigrants and we were not readily "accepted" in the community. Well done, Kathleen. Love and best wishes,

There are always bullies ... but to rise above their hate and predujice is worthy of flowers ...

Kathleen,
Wow, this speaks volumes. Bullying is rampant in schools today. Something should be done! This poem is awesome, love it! My Grandchildren are in school, one in high school and they see it everyday!
