I’m resting up.
Arms outstretched
in bed staring at
the ceiling fan,
sun shining
through the window.
It might be 9:00
or 10:00 o’clock
in the morning
but it doesn’t matter
because I’m making up
for years of lost sleep, lost time.
I am healing from beatings
and letting go of malicious judgments
shouted in public and private.
I’m getting over the women who were
more a part of his life than I.
I’m in a new situation now
where I am cherished and respected.
Where I am encouraged to rest up, to get over.
Yes, yes, yes!!!!!! I RECOGNISE this one, Janet!! Different situation, but same effect... I, too, am suddenly catching up on years of lost "quality" sleep and on Sunday slept in until 11!!!! Unheard of for me! Appreciate, appreciate the body and mind at full stretch and full rest, as if falling forever in a sea of feathers... for me it doesn't happen except by minor miracles as mostly I have "unrefreshed" sleep... This makes me want to bounce on the bed and start a pillow fight for the joy of it all! Three cheers for being at PEACE and REST... in body mind and spirit. LOVE this, thank you. :)) Kate xx
Resting up is a good thing....I've been doing more than my share of that lately too although for different reasons. I hope you are feeling stronger every day Janet! Nice poem.
Now this one really different for you! Excellent! I'm so glad you are free enough to do what is good for you, and have the superb relationship you now enjoy! Well deserved!
Sounds like you deserve that much and more and this write is a great tribute and offers hope to others who were or are in similar situations of which you speak. Well said Janet.
