All About Christmas
Snow flakes
cookies
and cakes.
Pretty lights
and
cold wintery nights.
The Christmas tree
is clad in decorations
ready for many
celebrations.
It’s Christmas time.
In a wonderland
that is so fine.
There’s children’s laughter
and
grown-up spirits thereafter.
Commercially
this is great,
but,
here’s what I really want
to state.
The adults gather for hot
toddies in one room with joy
while,
the youngsters sneak peeks,
trying to discover a much wanted toy.
But.
The wrapping paper
is much too stout.
So, they can’t figure
any of it out.
“There is no Santa Clause!”
one cries with a toss.
All of a sudden, at the door,
there is a noisy rumble.
In bursts a fat man in red,
with a stumble.
His face is as crimson as
Rudolph’s beak.
The children all
run to his feet.
The fat man leans
to give one a hug.
The child makes a face
and cries,
“Santa’s been sipping the jug!”
