Lay in the shadow of your soul
Preacher keeps the sunshine
As the rays of hope play
Carefree upon the body
And heart of the love
We pass as ships in rendition
Last thing remembered is you and me
Clock ticks and plays the mate Want and need proceed As pools of blue Capture my heart
Doors open and minds close As age takes its place Ripples of fire glimmer As angels pass Splat of marker Darker skies reach fate
Lay in the shadow of your soul Preacher keeps the sunshine As the rays of hope play Carefree upon the body And heart of the love We pass as ships in rendition Last thing remembered is you and me
When do we live in the eyes of our lither pride Does it cry in sleep Or is it n my mind Sunshine whispers to me In the holding lonely times Shed of kisses left undone When did the time come Rest of body skin to skin Love me sweet love Give me the chance Dance in seeing Youth escapes As the grass cries Little things come Always in stride Wipe the tear Safe in arms Mine
Let us be a night sigh As wind and rain Walt stays in polished steal Only a writer you know Always just one step from Edge calls in hearts waiting we are as we see on the brink least I trip angels waiting fear and hate grows but not for the bard reaching the last word And her love grows
Sky grows dim in respect for the poet As kindness plays in heaven's gate For the writer and need live in fingers gathered In ink quill and folded in prayer As ages have to remember Last on a match Passes again
Author Notes
Barbara Allen In Scarlet town where I was born There was a fair maid dwelling And every youth cried well away For her name was Barbara Allen
Twas in the merry month of May The green buds were a swelling Sweet William on his deathbed lay For the love of Barbara Allen
He sent a servant unto her To the place she was dwelling Saying you must come to his deathbed now If your name be Barbara Allen
Slowly slowly she got up Slowly slowly she came nigh him And the only words to him she said Young man I think you're dying
As she was walking oer the fields She heard the death bell knelling And every stroke it seemed to say Hardhearted Barbara Allen
Oh mother mother make my bed Make it long and make it narrow Sweet William died for me today I'll die for him tomorrow
They buried her in the old churchyard They buried him in the choir And from his grave grew a red red rose From her grave a green briar
They grew and grew to the steeple top Till they could grow no higher And there they twined in a true love's knot Red rose around green briar
