Sorrow

Fields of coffins repenting
Soft her voice in song as of bell knelling
Say to each ghost past a reverent enchanting
Allen sleep in weep upon yonder stone kneeling

 





Old is the path that carries hearts to lonely
A truth is but a word left to die
A smile is truth leaning towards a lie
As the bard he sings his ancient song
The cup overflows as the choir sings along


Allen we stray upon a fire that is burning
Least we see the form of trite be born
Dwelling in the meadow-leading
Raven in the sky kept it's a heart away
Allen what window sill will your will
And whose soul will you be killing


May came in her glory seeking
Limp and wise her scarlet eyes swelling
Lay a tune upon her breast as white as snow
Allen cried for the love of all known


Her face pulls the wind and rain to pleading
Dwelling of the ice and snow grows as wind tells
Shadows of trees in mid bloom turn the leaves of now
Allen staid to real to grave of fallow needing


As wisdom pure takes appellate up
Him as cup of drink fills to brim the sin of being
Lent a trouble ache of trust and parson said
Dying pauses clear upon a red moon glooming

Roses lay on thrones of compassion bed
Narrow streets walk the pride of youth and age
Lest a trumpet play past today
Tomorrow dark the sky of heartache and sorrow

In a grave yard far away across the valley and the sky
A soldier with his child prays for the love that is lost tonight
In amber ways of trouble given
Each a pass is made
Who is reason
The piper and the naive
