Are you awake?
so much I wanted to say
you smile so gently, in sleep, as you're turning away
secrets of silence
in words weighing too much for sound
I want say them but watch them all fall
through the ground
Are you awake?
so much that begs to go right
so much I wanted to heal, in the balm of the night
tentative touches,
such chances as never return
but you are sleeping. I lie by your side
and I burn.
