Poetry, what is poetry?
Words arranged in different ways to create a more visual expression of feeling. What if there was a deeper meaning behind poertry?
What if what we knew about poetry wasn't what we thought it was? Could poetry be much bigger then we imagined?
Is poetry similar to the way your writing utensil glides over a page as it makes contact? Can the way you type each character into your computer be mistaken for poetry? Or could it be poetry in the way you form words?
Could emotions leave your body and take on a life like form in words? What happens when you read poetry?
Do you have a greater understanding of what the author is feeling? Could you feel the same way as the author feels while reading their poetry? Can poetry store emotions and later share them? Or could you sense a different emotion while reading poetry than of which the author felt?
Could the way leaves howl in the wind be poetry? Can it be poetry in the way the sun dims over the calm ocean? What does poetry mean to you?
Could poetry be all around us?
I like the deep thoughts in your writing on Poetry. I think my favorite line is "Could emotions leave your body and take on a life like form in words?" Also, "Can poetry store emotions and later share them?"
I have had some people tell me that my poems made them cry, or helped them in some way.
I know, as I write poetry, there is nothing automatic about it...it is feeling, right from my heart. If there is no emotion in a poem, I count it a failure.
I like the way you have made me think and evaluate what poetry is, and is not!
