you’re such a harsh one
filled with the man power rage rush
that belittles all your sensitivities
betrays the intelligence battling to hog tie
male
pre-plausible mania
you shake your fist
you squash bugs who get in your way
yell at the dog
flex
flag your dominant dimensions
and strut he-man humanity
just as you did yesterday
sitting down to the dinner table
frustrations dribbling down your chin
bang go the fork and knife
slam goes the coffee cup
filled, teaming with desire unsaid, unspoken
tears ducts cemented with attitudinal mythologies
suck it up man
Very evokative...although when I first read this, I thought it was speaking of a male, it could easily be about a female as well. There is a lot of gender overlap these days. Jesus wept at Lazarus' death and He was a perfect specimen of ideal masculinity, yet He compared His weeping over Jerusalem's rejection as like a hen wanting to gather her chicks. Very moving, thought-provoking write. -Zach
Why didn't I see this piece before?
This is so good Jeanne, so precise.
Those last lines couldn't be more effective
at the end of such a painfully true depiction
of "male insanity".

Best line that I've read in a while jeannerene'. Humanity certainly is multi-faceted, especially in the way it expresses itself when disgruntled and out of sorts. Your poem seethes with emotion, and effectively paints a moment that everyone can relate too.
Amazing pen my friend. I wonder just how many men could suck it up and be a woman. It takes a sensitive and beautiful person to be one. Just think, that macho exterior may only be a cover-up. Peace, Love and Blessings Always, Paul.
Reminds me strongly of an incident with my nephew-- he was bawling because his sister got to "do everything, 'cause she's a girl... and I don't get to do anything, 'cause I'm a boy!" to which his dad put his hand on my nephew's shoulder and said, "Buck up, Boy. At least you're a boob!"
They may give us a hard time, but a good tearing-up is healthy for you. --Charlie
