We call ourselves civilized
But haven't yet realized -
One should not kill
We profess peace we follow
Yet our claim rings hollow
As we kill with great skill
From missiles in the skies
Innocent population dies
Is that really skill ?

Will we kill with great heft
Till there's no one left
And we've had our fill
I pray that sense prevails
Our need to kill curtails
Peace drowns out voices shrill.
I agree totally with you. War is hell when it rains on people through no fault of their own except being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
But war comes from the Bible. Even the story, true or not, between Cain and Abel. Between family against family over water, food, shelter or territory. And so it goes until it is nation states against nation states with no end because the population is growing and readers want to show they have the upper hand when it comes to power and wealth.
It all end with strong resolve from the populous to end leaders who propagate war. Gandhi and Martin Luther King proved that the best defense was simple nonviolent protest. Fewer will die than in war, and when the killers have had enough slaughter, they will give up.
