 Dream Benediction

By: Fee

I dreamt in black and white last night

Or at least in a faded monochrome

My heart and soul drifted shackle free

In such a way I’ve never really known

I passed well beyond the ever-more

Into a world where days meant nought

Realisation struck, how short this life could be

That calendar days could not be bought

Through the gray I heard child’s laughter

Poppy, please swing me higher to the moon

At her voice the colours flooded back

I think this all happened none too soon

The weights of yesteryears were lifted

My debt of sins seemed compensated

Old loves scars of broken hearts forgiven

Day-to-day worries now seemed over-rated

I awoke this morning from that dream

Knowing, no matter how short my time

Love is all that truly matters in the end

As I heard the Sunday church bells chime…

There's so much truth to this poem. A sensitive message to be heard, especially the last stanza.

We all came into this world naked. When we leave we taking nothing, except the clothes on our backs and the love in our hearts.

This beautifully rhymed little poem raises one's spirit with every line. A unique talent that few poets anymore can reach.
