For Stacy, who always got me through it.

***

She used to yell back.
That's what I loved best about her.
Suspended in a cable car,
High off the ground,
Men below belting out verses
Of mainstream pop songs,
“Quit playin’ games with my heart!”
Brow twisted
She leaned forward
Golden hair lit by sun
To steal the breath from love-struck serenades.
“You’re with your girlfriend,
For cryin’ out loud!”
She said the best things.
Over a year later, I still told her everything.
Dreams and ambitions,
A future uncertain as one path divides,
Presenting two separate directions,
and me at the fork, frozen.
“Ange,
All I can say is this:
Be flexible
Be creative
Because life is certainly that way.”
She said the best things.

Yeasn Ange, life is definitely that way. I was given a life, that most of my physical sex, would not have. I was actually born with a female brain, but a male body. And, everyone here, has made me feel welcome; has lifted me up, when all I had were my written words. Yes Ange, life is definitely very flexible and very creative. (Giggles). I loved this poem, it is very good, thnx for sharing. May the Lord be with you, and at your side always. With much love, peace, & (((HUGS))), your very good friend in Wisconsin, and sister in Christ our Lord,

This is very intriguing...I did enjoy reading it, and it leaves me with questions, which is perhaps by design. Why is it all in past tense? What happened to Stacy, or to the friendship? And what is the fork at which the narrator stands, frozen?

Yes, this is a well-written tribute. Thank you for sharing it.
