I got a phone call the other day, sad news is what I heard
He just passed away the voice said, my spirit became disturbed
How could this have happened and the treatments didn’t work
The medicines prescribed to treat the illness only made him worst
We all tried so hard since the day he became sick
To treat his ailing illness, but nothing did the trick
He just kept getting worse, yet we all kept the faith
though he became terminal, we kept treating him anyway
We gave him the best treatments, care from top physicians
But much of the time he wouldn’t cooperate nor would he listen
He wouldn’t change his lifestyle nor change his harmful ways
He would not honor our suggestions, and down his life he laid
He’d rather listen to quacks who were unprepared to heal
And those who claimed to be doctors, yet were not even real
They gave him mis-information, mal-practice for his health
They told him not to follow his doctors, as they glorified themselves
They gave shoddy books and street medicines for his woes
In his ignorance and defiance, he followed his own foes
He fought against the physicians who could have made him healed
Rejection after rejection, his mind became concealed
His ailments became irreversible, as he sank deeper into death
His spirit became faint, as he struggled to keep his breath
No longer could he walk, or find his own way
We all didn’t want to believe he was about to die any day
Yet while on his deathbed, he still just would not take instruction
He kept on being defiant, as if he wanted his own destruction
He wouldn’t take his medicines, nor open his mouth for food
He’d rather have a fever, than allow himself to be cooled
Finally he went unconscious, and went into a deep coma
Dark into the abyss, like the whale who swallowed Jonah
No respirator could help him, nor electric shocks would he wake
Finally on that day, his life was taken away
His family was devastated, the doctors felt they failed
When we had his funeral, everyone mourned and wailed
The preacher gave a eulogy, he took us down memory lane
He brought to remembrance when this person was not insane
It was revealed he had a calling, in which he was to fulfill
He was actually an ordained priest himself, a calling he also killed
He was his parents favored son, well cherished and loved indeed
He was the beneficiary of an inheritance that he never received
He had so many gifts and talents that he took with him to his grave
But he choose to be a prodigal son, and his own life he enslaved
The service was almost over, it was now time to view the body
You could feel the spirit of sadness and people were quietly sobbing
All the congregation stood there glaring, with tears dripping from their eyes
The mother then screamed out, "son!!!, you didn’t have to die!!!!
I nurtured you all my life, and raised you to be so great"
The father cried out, "son!!!, why did go astray!!!"
One by one they viewed the body and then turned silently and walked away
Many just broke down and cried, others had nothing to say
Then came my turn, to see the face I could not treat
I looked into the casket, a great awe came upon me
My eyes brows raised real high, astonishment on my face
Shaking as I realized, history had been made that day
I had to write a poem, because this is something I had to tell
I was looking at the dead body of one called Israel
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, buried in the ground
A people who became so lost, they never could be found
And so the funeral was over, and all others had to move on
The dreams, gifts and calling were no more, because Israel was dead and gone
Oh somewhere in heaven, where the angels sing and give praise
And stand before the Spirits of the ancient of days
There is an eternal father and mother who do cry
They never willed it to happen, but Israel chose to die
And so I leave this record, a memorial allegory
To share to the world , Israels funeral Story

I enjoyed this very much, it is a lesson not only for other nations
but we as individuals.
