The rain reconciles in fragile droplets
on the leaves akin to little diamonds,
delicate to the slightest breeze to
inevitably roll away into nothingness...
Life expectancy zero, even at their best.
Glistening and sparkling for only a short
while, intangible, unobtainable, never to
be held?...
not even enough to quench a thirst,
alas only tiny bugs, albeit pests they
are at worst.
When the sun peeks out, the diamonds
desiccate....
if they have not wafted away by then,
with nature's infamous theatrics
of which there is no end.
Some contrast the raindrops to the lovers
of life..glittery, fleeting fancies, never meant to last.
Never to maintain, watering hearts for
but a season until feelings amass.
When seasons of feelings blossom into
love, their suitors would be gone
like the rain and beautiful flowers
after a few days wilt and spoil on.
One will always admire the beauty of
settled rain upon the leaves, a chain
link fence and many a hazy windowpane,
but they dare not dream the possibility
of lasting love again.
