This relates to more than 90% of the women I know, myself incluso.
Being single is not failure, not having kids isn't either.
I often even hear "you are successful and can afford to raise a child by yourself". Depends whether one wants a sperm donor or a Daddy for the child. If the inevitable happens,all good but i think it's unfair to the child to knowingly just get a donor.

Girl, do you know my family by any chance? This poem seems to be talking about another member of my family! Everybody was after my second cousin's case like it was going out of fashion! And yap, the guy she eneded up with, just so as to please her nagging family, was married. Now she's alone with three kids to boot and jobless! Such a pity! Great one, girl! Ni.~~

Sometimes how our lives have turned out come from how we were raised. The ones who play an important part is our parents. Sadly, after the damage is done, it would take a great deal of ourselves to correct this.

Parents have to be supportive at all times, not to through negativities into the young ones' mind, as parents are of authority figures next to a child's teachers. Whatever the parents say means a great deal to the child. Sometimes, special things they have said would be imprinted into the child's mind through his/her life.

Sadly, this is the truth, and sometimes it would take the child a whole lifetime to correct what has been done.

A good realistic write and a warning to the parents. Thank you for the message, Sandra!

It's very well understood and there are marriages one wishes they had never happened and, at another level, one tries to do one's best to keep life sane. Living for people is impossible and living without people is impossible. In the end, probably, it's all about corresponding to one's self.
It's a very thought-provoking poem, really.

What a ride this is on the emotional rollercoaster. Too bad women still have to define themselves through a man, as opposed to what they truly want to become outside of the cultural traps that often restrain us.

LEAVE ME BE is quite a heavy write Ms. Mushi. On one level the give and take nagging is somewhat comical but on another is demonstrates that there really is no point living one's life as an attempt to please others. It just don't happen:-(

Better to throw a party for oneself and let those who wish join the celebration dance:-)
