Poem Artwork

It is not that I only see your beauty
I feel it
I thought it was clear,
a perfect perception
I looked at her for recognition

She pretended to stare instead
at the whirlpool in her coffee
letting her tongue remove the residue
off the spoon

This is what I am talking about
I would die to be the spoon
Even though it was not focused intent
you cannot ignore the sensual litheness
The flower hugging the vine
waiting and coaxing the bee

Chair legs scratched the floor
as the cup was brought to the sink
the ebb increased setting my mind to foot
to again be near the source
Here let me help you with that

So selfless was I
Yes that would be good to believe
as my hip brushed hers

Don’t you understand
I know of the east
The intricacies of philosophy
I know the taste of the lotus on my tongue
and the pulsations before the dawn

You see the water flow to the drain
its clarity as it moves towards the pull
I am this liquid flowing into the vortex
leaving my existence to fill yours

Doubtful eyes looked upon me
with you’re just saying that look
until my eyes showed her the truth
and she understood

Tantalising, Walter, and loved the way you took us slo-mo through this blood-rush scenario! My coffee cup would be rattling all the way to that sink if it were me! Sultry and exotic images compliment the domestic setting and keep us on the emotional tightrope. Just love the penultimate stanza: it's concepts I want to swirl around my palette like a fine wine. Can feel the heat from here. Brandy, anyone?! :)) Great write, thank you. Kate xx

You give us no excuse NOT to do the dishes anymore. Proof that even the most mundane task can be put to muse with skill.
