Just a light little poetry about the cats that live close to our house.

A Family of Cats

As I sit on my front porch

Talking to the neighbors cat,

His name is Fat George

Because his belly is round

Looks like it might be touching the ground

But not one of the nips he'll ever regret.

Now Slinky comes our way,

A cat baby, still small, he's a stray

But cute and cuddly, eyes so big

His long slinky tail stretched like a stick.

He sits on my lap and purrs with delight,

A cupful of milk would serve him just right.

There comes, rounding the corner so slow,

Kitty, the sweet, putting on a show

By climbing and balancing,

Whirling and dancing

On the reel of my stairs,

She thinks the world is hers.

Then Princess, the queen of the clan,

Hisses like only she can.

Her eyes so bright and slant and green,

She's noble, you'd say if you've seen

The grace that she shows when she moves,

The elegant way in which she grooves.

But trust me, she's never been inside

People's houses or close to their side,

For she's shy and scared and wild.

Slinky, the cutie is her only child.

They all are my friends,

Sourround me with love that never ends.

I watch them each day

And somehow they are no longer stray

They are part of me and my life and eat

From the plate on which I do feed

My sweet little darlings, wild and yet tame

No other pleasure could ever be the same.

The moral of this story to everyones delight

Four cats, a family, full of love, in their own right.
