As we come to the end of 2008 and enter into 2009, with a new President, what does the future hold? It seems rather bleek. Where is our hope? It must be in our Creator.
LIFE TODAY
The young life is blissful
because ignorance is wistful
It knows not fear or wory
Its always in a hurry
It persudes la joie du vive
Oh! to be young again
and to love again
What joy there is to life
as it unfold with no strife
No aches or pains, no walking stick
Each day reveals new fields to concur
We wish not to drop our anchor
Let the boat drift, see where it will take us
We will live a life just to lust after
the pleasures life offers
No thought given to aging
That is yet too far off
They are now departing
as in the grave they are lost
They are now in the past
History has been made
We must move on to another day
And yet we know
some day we will be as they
Making history now
for generations to come

I have many years over you but I see clearly where you are and perhaps where you have been. God, Jesus, was trying to get your attention and this is how He does it. It is thru suffering, as he has done, and carying it to the finish line, is what it is all about. So, hang in there, pray, and do good and God will see you thru and there will be peace and happiness. He can not promise us here as to this but it will be waiting for us on the other side.

No aches or pains, no walking stick - this line really stuck out to me as since age 34 I have been disabled with fibromyalgia and other various health problems, and i walk with a cane/walking stick, and i can tell you that i never imagined the life i am now leading, i thought i was invincible. i have been given a real gift though, as through my Catholic faith, i was at this same time, though a cradle Catholic, drawn to the Autobiography of the Soul by St Therese of Lisieux as well as to a book about Job and both have changed my life tremendously. The gifts i have been given through suffering far outweigh the things i perceived as gifts prior to my illness, and I would not trade them for the material things I once thought were so important. So much today is about self, and suffering helps us to stay small and think of other things than self. Thanks for this poem and Merry Christmas. Michelle
