reaching the goal but not the contentment

As a child I dreamed of lofty planes High above the mundane crowds I worked to climb that slippery slope Tearing flesh on impeding rocks I grew and learned and found my peak Proud of all the goals achieved Only to find this lovely,lonely place

If it is "lovely" then perhaps the "lonely" can be overlooked. I just don't find that to be the case. I do not like the scent of "lonely." Thank you for sharing this meaningful write, Sandi. Love and best wishes,
