The Washington Post has a Sunday section featuring "Life as Haiku" It's not according to formula, just a way to shortly say something. This was my attempt.
UNIFORMS
The pictures sit adjacent. The same face in both.
It’s just the uniforms that changed.
The high school football team
With my birth year as his chosen number.
The Marine blues
With places for yet unearned ribbons.
Such a distance from New Jersey to South Carolina;
Such a distance from boy to man.
He wants to teach in High school.
I haven’t changed much.
I want him back in school as well.
