In love with a ghost
Your yesterday
Is today
And the hereafter is
Jammed down
My throat with a gasp
And subtle reminders
Of denial and inability
I step, I sidle but
I do not avoid
The inequities portrayed
With casual words
And faint smiles
That waltz across your face
As if music lingered
From a dance with another
In the back of your mind
I yearn for complacency
And the knowledge
That hot and cold
Are merely contrasts
Of the same principle
And that oil and water
Can in fact
Commingle and form
Something more than
Dichotomy
