Things may not always seem so clear

While thinking the one whom you want to be near

And whom you hold in your heart oh so dear

Is slipping away, rendering your soul in fear.

Why do these things always seem to happen to me?

Or am I blind and just cannot see,

The hope I have been clinging to so urgently,

Has gone away, and was just not meant to be?

What if the two souls who found each other,

Was your best friend, and the other your desired lover,

Your love for each unending, as if they were sister and brother,

And I’d rather hurt alone than undeservedly hurt another.

It doesn’t ease my pain, but to this I will soon adjust.

Just need some time, and in God I will always trust.

Prayer will sustain me, help me strive for what’s good and just

Help mend my heart, and remove the greed and the lust.

I need to take a break, concentrate more on me,

Take care of my children, spend more time with family.

I’m really not as strong as some believe me to be,

Just have to place my burdens on Him, learn to rejoice in being…

Thank you for the comments on my work... I am actually writing this about the quandary of a relative who is still nursing a hurt over the recent marriage of one her friends to a guy she secretly had a yen for and never acted upon. My advice to her was to be happy and learn to love being free to be herself.

I think we may have all found ourselves in similar situations, especially when growing up, so you were on point, Larry! I'm sure it will work out for your daughter... these thngs always do!

A similar situation occurred to my daughter. She is only 15, but believes she is an adult. He girlfriend likes the same guy. I continue to advise her that she really can't se the future, for now take each day at a time. If her girlfriend was any true friend she would back off, even if it is only puppy love for now.
