Dear Lord; It’s me again
Asking your protection for my family
Deep down I know you’re with us always
So this prayer is mostly for me
Lord, I just watched my husband
As he slipped his uniform on with pride
His smile as he pinned his badge,
Came from deep within his heart
He strapped on his holster
In it he placed his gun
I noticed for that small moment
His smile faded a little
We watched the news together today
Someone killed a policeman
He was shot in cold blood
Answering his call to duty
We sat in silence as he touched my hand
We both felt the pain of loneliness
I try so hard to place him in your guard
What would I do if he were gone?
I watched him as he hugged his son
It was a lot longer tonight
He kissed his little girl
He held her so very tight
His eyes were moist as he turned to me
I hugged him with my heart, mind and soul
An especially passionate kiss before he left
Both of us knowing it could be our last
He has dedicated his life to justice
A battle each day for our safety and our law
He responds to each summons bravely
Not knowing if it will be his last call
So Lord I ask you to keep him safe and sound
Give him wisdom and mercy to solve each problem
And when he is done with his tour of duty
Send him home to his grateful and proud family
And Lord, before I go
Bless that policeman’s family
Their pain will never fully heal
It’s an agony I pray I never feel

Jerry, from an officer of over 25 years, well done!
i agree with you in prayer...Lord, protect those police officers and their families...keep them safe in Your Arms...in Jesus' Name, AMEN and AMEN...(((HUGS))) and love, karla. :)
THANK YOU...i made a promise on 9-11-01, haven't broken it yet...that's to thank any police officer, emt, or fireman for the job they do...to protect us...and keep us from harm...so...THANK YOU, SIR. :) God bless!!
An excellent write Jerry...A great perspective from the wife's eyes. I spent over 20 years on the beat with that shadow that hung over me never knowing if someday I may not come home. I attended too many funerals of really good men and women. Great write, my friend. Continue to write and explore these worlds.

In a post-coup America, an Illinois farm boy is drawn into the resistance by his brother's death. Captured, he is given a choice: betray his friends, or the girl he loves will be lobotomized.
A homonymless man writes shows what it's like to look up the laid he skirts when you’re lying prone(d) to the sidewalk, beer / joint / needle dangling from your hand /lips / arm.
