My Resume
by Nom de Plume

***************************************

My name’s Justice Weller, creative and bubbling,

And in such hard times, these incredibly troubling,

We need to shift gears, to laugh just a little,

We need “second wind”; make minds fit as a fiddle.

In a year of decisions, when powers and mights

Are being decided, we need “human writes”.

I write about news like that Charles Osgood feller,

What he does Osgood-er, I do, too. Justice Weller.

I take me an item, with news humming smartly,

And view it askew with some humor, oft tartly.

Transforming the issue; make it pithy or witty,

And even meet deadlines, beating “nitty” and “gritty”.

The quality is not of Shakespearean prose,

But delivery is rapid and before business close.

And if we are honest about William the Scribe,

Could he have done Hamlet by a quarter to five?

I find us some stories, whether national or local,

Poke holes in the subject, the point; i.e., focal.

So, read me my writes, AD friends of mine,

Let’s do this together and do it in rhyme.

We’ll cover all bases, all parts of society,

And look at their quirks, but not with sobriety.

If there we find pompous, supercilious idols,

Our words may make waves and some of them tidals.

I dearly desire to explore thoughts with pith;

Create verbal pictures, to show a wordsmith

Can skew up the news, both serious and funny,

So that wisdom goes down. Justice does honey.
