The time of year when all are transfixed in awe
young and old enamored by impending change
silent showers of red and gold
carpet and adorn the land
rakes and leaf blowers the tools of the day
skis will be waxed in anticipation
skates sharpened for the first opportunity
grills cleaned and stored away
wood piles will grow higher in preparation
the popcorn will taste better by a roaring fire
than it did at the summer fair
cotton candy memories will give way to anticipation
of Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat
turtleneck sweaters and woolen mittens
hot cocoa and cinnamon toast
cozy comforters, flannel sheets, comfy blankets
stacks of books adorn side tables
in preparation for autumn/winter reading
everything quiets and waits
and we never tire of the wonder of it all
So very true! Autumn in my favorite season as it feels so warm and cozy to me...like home. You paint a perfect portrait of all its most wonderful characteristics. Nicely written piece! ~Hugs, Elizabeth
Old enamored with the impending change? tell it to a few of neighbors that are looking forward to the next Spring, or so their bone hinges said with all kind of squeakc.
But you young people...go...go...enjoy your first cold and aspirins as we old ones sit in front of the fire place with a glass of chilled Bailey to warm our bones!
The beauty of autumn.I'm so glad it is here. The leaves fall to the ground with the colors of the rainbow. The cool breeze that hugs a person's body. You pictured fall beautifully and I'm falling in love with this poem.Take care
I love this photo and I was thinking last night, have to get those flannel sheets out soon. Love them. Thanks for this fall write, very interesting to me.
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
But you young people...go...go...enjoy your first cold and aspirins as we old ones sit in front of the fire place with a glass of chilled Bailey to warm our bones!
