Yesterday

To the loved ones we have loved and lost and will miss.

Yesterday, ah yes, it was fun, but now I wonder where yesterday has gone

Sitting around a camp fire and with our eyes staring deep within, then as I look around to smile at all our loved ones and special friends

Feeling the glow and warmth of the fire and of all the good times we shared

I Realize with sadness as I look that some of them aren't here, and it hurts me so that some of them have gone

But we still sit around and continue laughing and having fun with our guitars and our songs

Knowing within our hearts that they are listening too and probably singing along

They will always be here watching over us, they will always be near

Yesterday, ah yes it was fun, I still sit and stare into the fire and still feel their spirt here

Yesterday, like looking over the shoulder and feeling regret for the things left undone and elation for the things we were able to escape from.
Yesterday is so many different things to so many different people.

PS; Fee seems to have a lot of cousins, maybe we should watch ourselves, don't want trouble with the eighteen-wheelers clan.
By the way, nice painting of the lighthouse.

I was deeply touched by this nostalgic piece that echos the feelings of many who have experienced a loss. Beautifully written, poignant, and engaging. Thank you for sharing.

Yes dear cousin, how true this poem rings both for your family and mine. The years go by and with each one that passes the campfire circle gets smaller and smaller, is it my imagination or the wind joining in the chorus as I strum the songs of your lifetimes. Thanks for sharing such a stirring, memory evoking right...and was that you who told me you couldn't write poetry?
