I listened to your words both night & day,
I cried because you led me astray.
I believed in those precious things,
Never thought we'd toss those golden rings.

Secretly alone, I cried out my heart,
When you said dear, that we must part.
I turned away , then I cried some more,
As I watched you walk out the door.

 I longed for you to hold me tight,
How we made love till morning light.
You knew how I waited patiently,
To have your love for only me.

Now I see the time has come & gone,
You're with another where you belong.
We failed the test of love with time,
You're gone, now you are no longer mine.

 Another night alone, I toss & turn,
My love is lost, a lesson I've learned.
I hear the words spoken through the night,
I lost your love that once was right.

I once believed in those precious things,
I never thought we'd toss those golden rings.
I beg you darling, please won't you stay,
Don't let our love, just go astray.

 I was taken by your seductive way,
Those loving words that led me astray.
I believed all those precious things,
Not knowing we'd toss those golden rings.

Then you said the words that broke my heart,
Knowing it would tear my world apart.
