My Secret
He doesn’t wear a tie, he tired of ties and suits
having been choked by them for all those decades
but if I asked to see him wearing an Armani tuxedo
he would patiently don the very best for my pleasure
he’s a man among men, a manager of many men….
and of me, when I’m distraught he manages always
to calm me, confused, he manages to give confidence
only he can solicit open conversation, girlish giggles
his mind is a wealth of knowledge a well of wisdom
he is excitement and safety, I’m at home with him
but his presence gives me the proverbial butterflies
and his touch melts my heart like spent candle wax
so gentle is his demeanor but he has a will of steel
tenacity of an angered, jumbo, Chesapeake Bay crab
manners of a true gentleman, touch of a true lover
even a reticent kiss can still expose his inner fire
in my thoughts he is the best of everything always
in my heart the comfort for all my present sorrows
he is the tender fire of love’s passion in my bed
the sweetest secret I’ve ever embraced, My Man
