Substance Oozes From My Heart

At the heart of my depression it’s clear to see
That no one really wants to accept me
See I am a gentle and loving friend
Who would support you till my end?

As people only see the famous one
No one sees I’m the real one
My heart layered with so much depth
And I’ll give it freely till there’s nothing left

Substance oozes from my heart
And it tears me up, that no one sees that part

Others think that I’m a way to make a dollar
And others try and milk me for my dollars
I am neither prince nor pauper
I am a gentle and loving author

Others simply want my child
While others always make me wild
Some have asked for my hand in marriage
And want to walk with me, and an open carriage

Thou hath known me as you perceive
And now you see me, as I grieve
Who among you can depend?
That I could be your loving friend!

Substance oozes from my heart
How is it fair, that I’m torn apart!
This exception breaks my heart
