Moonlit morning windowsill
Refracted thoughts upon the mill
Overseer of the Caspian Sea
Now I’ve come to walk with thee
Through the pines at millers pond
The hoot owls echo with their song
Seer of the heavenly sky
To whisper forth before I die
Less I breathe, among these sands
Then to clasp my throat and clap my hands
Deem I was my daylight jest
Then to walk thy path in pestilent mess
Thou hath, marred, and you hath betrayed me
Seer of the ocean sea, to walk among the ocean reed
Mar not my hands and my misgivings
Alas I walk among the living
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
This book represents a thirty-day period of my poetry journal. Each poem addresses
the dominant thoughts occupying my mind during the early morning hours of a given
day.
