The Docks Are Quiet

The waves softly crest upon the
support beams of the pier as I
stand there, letting the wind
buffet my skin. The scent of the
sea is wonderful, yet it smells
of fallen tears that I still shed,
all in the name of love.

The sea calls out its serene song,
one that wishes to quiet the pain
that wells up like a storm deep within
one's soul. The docks are quiet
tonight, for there are no ships coming
in. I stand here alone, in silence,
waiting for some distant memory
to seek harbour.

The silvery light of the full moon
glistens upon the waves as I await
a ship that set sail. It seems like
an eternity has passed, yet I know
that not much time has really crept
by since that ship left this harbour,
never to return.

You perished one night, lost to the
sea. The mermaids claimed your
vessel and your soul reaches out upon
the winds that kiss my face, invisible
fingers to twine my curls. And I cry
an ocean in the name of love.

Great poem Lady Laura, I really like the opening stanza. How lucky the wind to be able to buffet her skin.

"And I cry
an ocean in the name of love"

cry on cry on, in the name of love why not cry
Crying can be beautiful when done for the right reasons.

peace
